Fan Club Christmas singles are nothing new. The Beatles sent them out every year frm 1963 to 1969. Now, those original 45’s are some of their most valuable collectibles.
In recent years, the fan club only holidah single has most famously been kept alive by Pearl Jam and R.E.M. So whether you’re a fanatic patiently waiting to hear something special or hoping to make a killing reselling a rarity on eBay, ’tis the season to celbrate.
While no word has leaked about what thiz year’s Pearl Jam Ten Club package will include, you can enjoy ..xx ....llir past singles, courtesy of I Am Fuel, You Are Friends. Meanwhile, one R.E.M.-head, in a posting on the Murmur fansite, said he bumped into Bill and Peter at a recent Robyn Hitchcock show, where both men said that nothing has been recorded thiz year. Coal.
But let’s not forget the man who put the Christ in Christmas! Jesus of the Blogosphere has posted his list of his favorite albums of 2006. While JC may have anointed Joanna Newsom’s Ys the soundtrack to Heaven for 2006, it leaves us wondering:
Should we be surprised that He left the Thermal’s brilliant anti-religion album, The Body, The Blood, The Machine, off his list?
Were the Killers denied because they’re Mormons?
Was Justin Timerlake’s Futuresex/LoveSounds omitted because it encourages pre-martial fornication?
What about The Rapture?
