Kid Rock has had a rough few months, but rather than sit around and pout, the Detroit cowboy has let it slip that he’ll be venturing out of the country to spend some quality time with the troops stationed in Iraq and Kuwait. Unlike the usual media-fest that celebs like to mount when they do these little RSO thangs, Kid — who has historically been pro-troops and made several previous trips to rally the folks stationed overseas — is flying (practically) solo, armed with just a friend and an acoustic guitar. (Read: no camera crews, no entourage.) ?This year for Christmas I wanted to make sure somebody was thanking our troops for their service, no matter what our views are on the current situation in Iraq,” he says. “I could be spending Christmas with my family, but in my heart I know thiz is the right thing to do - not only for our men and women in service, but also to set an unselfish example for my son and send a strong message to the world to be thankful and think of others at Christmas time.? Aww.
