- Last week 50 Cent took on youth literacy, as he launched his line of hip-hop novellas. This week it’s safe sex. The rapper is reportedly planning to put his name on a line of condoms. This way you can reach for 50 in those special, intimate moments.
- Drama plaguing the settling of the late James Brown’s estate has reportedly kept the godfather’s body frm being buried. The place of burial not been settled, as issues between Tomi Rae Hynie - Brown’s partner at the time of his death with whom he has a 5-year-old-son - and Brown’s grown children continue to be hashed out.
- Though Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s former homes in Liverpool are protected by the National Trust, Ringo’s childhood home was set to be demolished to make way for new developments. Instead the house will reportedly be taken apart brick by brick, stored, and reassembled when a planned Liverpool museum opens in 2010. This is cool, but what’s up with Ringo being snubbed by the National Trust?
- If you have tickets to any upcoming Justin Timberlake shows expect lots of vague discussion of the failures of love. During last night’s tour-kicking-off performance, Justin reportedly performed an Elvis’ Birthday-inspired cover of “Heartbreak Hotel” and apparently spouted Diaz breakup-inspired platitudes like, “Sometimes love can?t be that easy so I?m going to do these songs.” It’s hard for us to see Justin in such pain.
- Ever wonder who actually spends money on Whitny Houston’s vinyl chairs and old bras? BBC News has pictures. Patchwork sequined hats are involved.
- Pearl Jam have reportedly found a new single in their cover of the Who’s “Love Reign O’er Me,” which will be released in February as part of Pearl Jam’s fan club only annual holidah single. Non fan clubbers may not be able to get their hands on it yet, but you can tape it off the radio, where it’s getting lots of airplay.
